Questions
How will I benefit from pursuing this certification?
MICHA has one of the only dedicated, immersive three-year Teacher Training programs in the world. Its international faculty spans the globe and so includes a diverse set of teaching skills while maintaining an integrity forged from decades of experience and embodiment. Additionally, this is the only program that offers a hybrid learning experience, both on-line and in person, and allows the candidate to grow within an immersive ensemble where participants will learn not only from their teachers, but from their peers as well.

Am I eligible to apply?
If you’ve explored (or plan to explore within the first three months of the start of the program) the fundamentals of Michael Chekhov’s technique, you’re eligible to apply. Your application will help us recommend your path to certification.

Do I have to be a MICHA Member to Apply?
No, but there are many benefits to being a MICHA member and the application fee is waived for MICHA Members. If you aren’t a MICHA member there is a $50 application fee.

Is this program right for me?
This training is designed for those who direct, coach, or teach acting, movement, voice, directing, or devising—whether in universities, primary schools, studios, or professional settings.
Do I need previous teaching experience?
No. We welcome both experienced teachers and newcomers. However, it is important for participants pursuing certification in Teacher Training to have some experience and proficiency in embodying the Michael Chekhov acting technique.

During the months when we are not in session virtually, you must complete at least 24 hours of in-person training in the Michael Chekhov Technique per year within a community of actors. You may train with MICHA, MCE, or petition to train at another approved studio or institution. Once the cohort is established, more details will be shared.
