PARTICIPANT TRACKS

Fundamentals

Artists in this track spend the first days of the workshop learning, or revisiting, the fundamentals of Michael Chekhov’s psychophysical approach to acting and the final days applying the technique to a contemporary text in collaboration with a director and writer in residence. This track is Inclusive of morning warm-up, scholar-artist presentations, festival performances and access to MICHA’s archive. Those who wish to perform or share artistic work will be asked to submit an application.

Advanced

Open to advanced practitioners who have a strong working knowledge of Chekhov’s technique. Performers spend mornings reviewing the fundamentals of Michael Chekhov’s psychophysical approach to acting and afternoons applying the technique to a contemporary text in collaboration with a director and writer in residence. This track is Inclusive of morning warm-up, scholar-artist presentations, festival performances and access to MICHA’s archive. Those who wish to perform or share artistic work will be asked to submit an application.

Artist Scholar

 Open to observers who wish to present their research in the form of a lecture, demonstration, dialogue, or workshop. Peer Review opportunities are available for Artist Scholars who seek formal responses on papers and presentations. Peer Review is led by MICHA’s Faculty Council. Artist-Scholars are welcome to participate in warm ups, to observe select sessions, to schedule interviews with consenting MICHA faculty, and to fully register for the fundamentals track. Those who wish to present their research will be asked to submit an application.

Artist Residency & Retreat

Open to any MICHA member. This option is for artists who wish to work on a self directed project through the MICHA Residency or for those who wish to have a retreat. Those registered for the residency/retreat are welcome to participate in morning warm ups, artist-scholar sharings, and will operate out of MICHA’s archive space where there will be a facilitated morning and afternoon check in. Those on retreat are welcome to occupy the various public spaces on campus such as the library, arboretum and common rooms.

Additional Options

We are providing multiple options for participation. These options will be made available on 5/1/2025, after workshop registration closes.

  • Virtual Pass $250: Includes two online gatherings to open and close the workshop and festival as well as live-streamed presentations, performances, and morning warmups. 

  • Festival Day Pass $100: a 1-day pass that includes participation in the morning warm ups, observation of select classes, attendance at presentations, performances, and events. Visitors are welcome to attend up to 3 days of the festival.

  • Presentation/Performance $25: tickets for presentations and performances will be available to the public. 

  • Party $40: join us on July 4th for an outdoor celebration! Ticket includes food, non alcoholic beverages, and one drink ticket. Cash bar available.  

REGISTRATION

Participants can register for the full workshop and festival or they can register for either Act 1 or Act 2. All participants must be active MICHA Members​​

Fundamentals & Advanced Track:

  • Full Festival: $2,500

  • Act 1 (6/25-7/3): $2,000

  • Act 2 (7/4-6): $600​

Artist Scholar Track:

  • Full Festival: $2,000

  • Act 1 (6/25-7/3): $1,500

  • Act 2 (7/4-6): $600​

Artist Residency/Retreat:

  • Full Festival: $1,000

Campus Housing :

  • Per Night: $60

Meal Plans:

  • 3 Meals per Day: $50/day

  • 2 Meals per Day: $40/day

Important Dates & Opportunities

  • Registration Deadline: May 1, 2025

  • Payment Due: May 15, 2025 (includes registration, meal plans, and housing fees). Payment plans are available.

  • (Optional) Apply to Perform/Present: applications will be open February 1 - March 1, 2025 for those interested in sharing a performance or presentation. Notification will be made by April 1, 2025.

 

A limited number of Work Study positions are offered, providing a 50% discount on registration fees. You can apply for these positions within the Registration Form.
