ONE DAY WORKSHOPS

NYC - Chicago - Fort Lauderdale

January 21, 2012 ~ 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Chekhov Technique and Alexander Technique, Day 1

Faculty: Ted Pugh, Fern Sloan and Meade Andrews

Actors Movement Studio, NYC

302 West 37th street, 6th floor

Michael Chekhov and FM Alexander were both actors, and both died in 1955. Their work mutually supports the development of the WHOLE ACTOR. Both visionaries approached life and art from a "psycho-physical" perspective--the connectedness of mind, body, and spirit. In this workshop, we will focus on several aspects of Chekhov's work; we will include the Alexander Technique, designed to eliminate unnecessary physical tension, to enhance and support Chekhov's artistic process.

January 22, 2012 ~ 11 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Chekhov Technique and the Audition

Faculty: Dawn Arnold and Anne Gottlieb

The focus of this workshop is preparation for an audition. We will work with intention and the polarity of desire and fear, exploring how this polarity can catalyze and specify our choices toward a more focused and present audition experience. Please prepare no more than 2 minutes of audition material - a short scene for a theatrical production (participants in the class will step in as readers with each other).

January 29 ~ 11 a.m. - 6 p.m.
